Bildungsurlaub (educational leave) in Bavaria
Bavaria has no state law on Bildungsurlaub. You therefore have no statutory right to time off for further training there. You can still be given time off, in three ways.

From 1 January 2027 Bavaria will be the only state without a law on Bildungsurlaub. Saxony then gets one too, the Qualifizierungszeitgesetz.
Your options in Bavaria
Ask your employer directly
Many companies grant educational leave voluntarily, especially large employers with locations in multiple states.
Check your collective agreement
Some sectors (e.g. IG Metall, public service) regulate educational leave through collective agreements.
Works council agreement
Your works council can negotiate a company-level agreement for educational leave.
What counts is where you work
