Bildungsurlaub (educational leave) in Brandenburg

In Brandenburg you are entitled under the Brandenburgisches Erwachsenenbildungsgesetz (BbgEBG) to 10 working days of Bildungsurlaub over two years, paid and on top of your annual leave. The law calls it Bildungszeit. You apply to your employer no later than 6 weeks before the course starts.

How to get your Bildungsurlaub in Brandenburg

As soon as you have worked for your employer for 6 months. The period starts with the calendar year of first use.

Does this apply in small businesses too?

In companies with no more than 20 entitled persons, § 25 Abs. 3 BbgEBG adds a quota limit. It takes effect only together with the company size: your request can fail on it once the quota named there has also been reached in the company. What counts is how many the company usually has.
